every part feels like it's in the 30s. the temperatures are still holding onto the 40s. in fact 44 in new jersey, 43 in philadelphia and 44 right now in delaware. the numbers come down a little bit, and then they come right back up to where they are this afternoon with sunshine, some scattered cloud, that steady wind out of the northwest. and that is going to make for a colder night tonight, too. i'll break it down hour by hour and show you what your day looks like for each part of our area when i'm back in ten minutes. but first katey zachary has your first alert traffic. since i balked out here this is not shot in the last few seconds when i was at my computer and set it up. this is of a garage off gerard avenue. i'm going to investigate why that shot moved. first let's take a look at your drive times further south if you're headed to delaware. if you're going between 295 and

$3,700, if paying cash or credit. there was one eagles fan who said he wanted to sell his knee on craigslist for a ticket to the super bowl. there's no need to do any of that thanks to carson wentz. wentz tweeted yesterday who wants to watch the big game in minneapolis? donate to the aol foundation for a chance to win super bowl tickets, airfare, hotel and a meet and greet with carson wentz himself. he says the minimum donation to his charity is just $10. there is also another local charity giving you on option called the elpis foundation raffling off tickets at $200 a piece. that's to help raise money for cancer. we know eagles fans are willing to do anything. >> you love your team. they bleed dreams, so there's

the finishing touches on the stadium ahead of the big game. here at home, birds flying everywhere. giant images of eagles safety malcolm jenkins and fletcher cox are standing outside city hall. you can expect to see more of these. polaris is coinating ten ranger atvs for police use. they have greater flexibility to get around in big crowds. philadelphia international airport tells us the major carriers will offer special and direct flights just for the big game. that is if you have tickets. or maybe you just want to fly out there to tailgate. the only place you can watch it right in the comfort of your own home is right here on nbc 10. we are the official television station of the eagles. that means you can watch every moment of the action before,

during and after the game right here on nbc 10. 53:56 on this wednesday morning. and new overnight, two gunman ambushed a philadelphia father just feet away from his family. police say the father stepped into his vestibule outside his apartment last night. that's when two men shot him execution style. his girlfriend and their two young daughters were inside the apartment, but they were not hurt. police rushed the father to the hospital where he died. they are now on the hunt for the shooters. well, school will never be the same for hundreds of kentucky high school students after they had to run for their lives from a gunman. this morning their school remains closed. this is our first picture of one of the victims killed in that shooting at marshal county high school yesterday. belly holt was only 15 years old. her aunt called her a special soul and said her parents should not have to bury their child. >> in the building please. >> students ran out of the

school in the rural town of benton yesterday morning. they had been trained how to react in newer active shooting drills. but there's no way to grieve the death of two friends who are only 15 years old. more than a dozen others were also hurt. the 15-year-old gunman was caught running from the scene and he will be charged with murder and attempted murder. >> i had seen one of the students who had been injured, and had to back away from it. i couldn't look at it anymore. >> i heard like two shots, and behind me i see this big figure of a person. and i just see like fire coming from a gun. >> five of the injured students remain in critical condition this morning. in delaware a bill to protect students and teachers from shootings has been delayed. the legislation requires all new school construction and renovation projects to include measures to prevent a gunman from wreaking havoc. construction standards includes

an alarm, bulletproof glass, and doors that can be locked from either side with a key. we're learning the russia investigation appears to be moving into the president's top circle. two sources tell nbc news that fired fbi director jaymes comey and attorney general jeff sessions have already both been interviewed by investigators looking into possible ties between the trump campaign and russia. president trump says he's not worried about what his attorney general may have said. montgomery county bureau will keep it's local police department at least for now despite the mayor trying to get rid of it. the mayor campaigned on the platform of disbanding the department and potentially using the services of another police force. he says the decision, though, is out of his hands. >> i tried my best to do what the voters put us in to do. but as everyone knows the mayor

is more or less a figure head of the bureau. i can do recommendations and things like that, but i do not have a vote. >> pennsburg will meet today to determine if it can keep the remaining force operational. i'm meteorologist bill henley. 5:39. grab the heavier coat. we've got a cold win blowing. look closely. that flag is getting a workout this morning in allentown. winds are gusting 22 miles an hour. even stronger for coatesville and philadelphia. they're just getting started. that is bringing some colder air into the area. holding right now at 43 in philadelphia, and expected to come down into the 30s by 8:00, and then back into the 40s this afternoon. despite that sunshine, we'll have that steady wind and it's going to feel like it's in the

30s even this afternoon. for the suburbs 41 right now. 30s, we'll see that this morning and then slowly climbing right up to the 40 degree mark this afternoon. and the lee high valley we'll see that 41 zradrop to 32 degre by 8:00. the wind blowing some clouds past new jersey, but it's going to be dry. the clouds will thin out this morning. we'll get enough sunshine to warm through the 30s. it'll briefly be in the 30s this afternoon and back into the low to mid-40s this afternoon. but the wind, that steady will feel like 43 degrees this afternoon. the wind is at 9 miles an hour, but it'll get stronger this morning. we can see gusts 25 to 30 miles an hour in delaware this morning, and that wind will still be blowing in the afternoon. and then it gets colder for

this morning philadelphia's plan to create safe injection sites to help stop the opioid epidemic is getting push back from some opponents. yesterday city officials announced they'll push for safe injection sites that provide trained staff who can immediately respond to an overdose and provide users with treatment options. supporters say the safe sites would reduce the spread of disease and cut down on neighborhood blight. while advocates believe a safe injection site will help addicts, opponents say it could have an opposite effect. >> we want people someplace safe where someone can help them if they're ready and good for bid if their overdose, save their lives. >> we have a lot of work to do before we get to this, which may save lives. >> the city is looking for a provider and has yet to decide where it would be located.

moving onto another story, a school bus on a icy slippery slope. check out this video in a massachusetts neighborhood. >> oh, my goodness. >> a woman was recording when the school bus slid backward on a narrow icy street. officials say the school bus was picking up students when flash freezing created slippery conditions. 20 middle school and high school stunl students were onboard at the time. nobody got hurt. now to news on capitol hill where a pregnant senator is making history. she'll become the first u.s. senator to give birth while in office. she lost both her legs during a mission in iraq. she spoke exclusively to the "today" show.

on the bandwagon. >> those who are die-hard fans who are superstitious might say don't do that. >> most of the country is backing the eagles, so it's a small part of texas and new england. we've got this, don't worry. it's not going to be the brutal cold we had recently. skies, a few clouds overhead. look at this shaking camera. but that's is cold wind that's blowing this morning. back to january for today and tomorrow. both days will see gusty winds, but it'll actually turn colder for tomorrow. so not exactly warm right now. low 40s for the lee high valley and the suburbs. in delaware it's 44. yeah, it's warm for this time of year. we would normally be in the 20s this time of day. but there are some colder neighborhoods. we're seeing some 30s in west callan township, down to 41

right now. 39 degrees in milford township. so you definitely need the jacket this morning especially with the wind. clouds over wilmington, philadelphia and trenton. but you can see there's nothing falling from these clouds. the nearest scattered showers to our west. and no storms until we get to the weekend. and then watching clouds coming out the gulf of mexico. it's going to be too warm for anything else. but the next few days not going to be warm. 44 this afternoon, and a blustery day thursday. 25 in the morning, 38 in the afternoon. and even colder friday morning, but that's a sign of clear skies and less wind for friday morning. and sunshine will warm us up to 44 during the afternoon and look at the weekend. sunday will be a lot like what we saw yesterday with showers and passably some thunderstorms. some gusty winds, too, and then it clears out for monday. another quick bout of cold on

tuesday back into the 40s and upper 50s on thursday. showers holding off until next friday. >> i'm just glad we don't see any snow in that forecast. we've had difficult commutes because of that weather. >> and katey zachary taking look at the roads starting with the schuylkill. yesterday with all that rain coming down, that affected things in the morning. but things right now are pretty good. the schuylkill is running pretty smoothly, and in the last few minutes volume has picked up. we'll take a look at your drive times between 476 and the vine street expressway on the schuylkill. speaking of the blue river, take a look at your drive times. it's about a 14 minute -- look at that. it is a 14 minute drive time on the schuylkill.

here's the deal, if you're on eagles fan living in new england right now, you have to lay low for the next few weeks. it's now doing some rule changes that apply only to eagles fans. these are in effect until after the super bowl. >> no philly sports apparel or philadelphia food. cheese steaks and soft pretzels, they don't want any of it there. >> the list goes onto anything like midnight green and if will smith or sill vestor stallone happen to be in town, they are not welcome. >> but two can play this game. well, they have their own ban in place. >> we're not doing any boston creams or new england themed doughnuts. donny's doughnuts says the boston cream is usually their top seller so they are sacrificing fan loyalty for profit. these bans will all be lifted

let's get to meteorologist bill henley and his most accurate forecast. >> it's been nice yesterday where we saw temperatures climb into the 60s, but not today. that's cold air moving into the air. the wind chill 33 in allentown and reading and a little bit colder in pottstown. actual temperatures are still holding into the 40s for many neighborhoods. that's because the clouds that have come in overnight, those clouds will thin out, we'll get some snooen. and we'll see those temperatures back into the 40s this afternoon. that steady win making sure we don't see all that warm up during the day toward. i'll break the forecast down hour by hour so you know exactly what to expect before you head out the door. but first katey zachary has your first alert traffic. our first big issue of the day. there's a crash on 422
